The MLS Engine Management System (ECU) has been designed to run a specific range of V8 engines.

It is derived from the existing M4 ECU and has specialised software that limits its use to certain engines only.

Chev V8

The MLS will run the LS series of the modern V8 Chevrolet engines with 8 coils. A limited number of Ref/Sync modes will be available that covers the old and new trigger patterns for theses engines.

  • Mode 233 (24 crank teeth)
  • Modes 81 or 83 (2 missing once per cycle)

Engines are wired and run in group fire using the 4 injector drivers and the coils are configured in wasted spark mode. This leaves 1 output available for the fuel pump or fans if required.

Lexus V8

The MLS can also be configured to run the twin distributor style 1UZFE engine.
This runs the multi tooth mode with the number of coils clamped to 2.
The remaining 3 auxiliary outputs can then be used as per normal M4 software.

Advantages

  • Improved starting due to group fire mode
  • Significantly lower price than an M4

Note
  - An MLS cannot be upgraded to an M4.
